One In How Many More To Come?

Rotherham United have already delved into the transfer market by fetching in forward Conor Washington but how many more players are we, as fans, expecting.

Well, the first thing I suppose we have to ask ourselves is who is leaving. We know that Michael Smith, Chieo Ogbene, Michael Ihiekwe, Jamie Lindsay, Viktor Johansson, Josh Chapman and Jake Hull have all been offered either contract extensions or new deals but, as yet, haven’t heard if any have actually taken the club up on them. To be fair they are all probably on holiday at the moment. Although, there have been rumours that one is off here, one is off there and another’s agent isn’t impressed with the offer.

Millers Boss Paul Warne himself said just after our season ended that he was expecting to sign seven or eight players. If all those who have been offered deals turn them down is seven or eight going to be enough?

Another striker, I think, will be on the radar and isn’t it obvious that we need a left-back? Plus I believe we could do with a strong centre-half who has proven himself higher up the leagues. It could be we need two wingers but, again, that all depends what happens with the players we already have.

The one thing I do hope is that we get these players in sooner rather than later. The Manager has already said talks have opened with some parties and that can only be for the good.

What are your thoughts on any position we need new faces for? Let us know here at Vital Rotherham.
