Next Games Crucial?

Rotherham United aren’t exactly lighting up League One and, going into this weekend, sit in the bottom four of the division.

But is the next three weeks crucial to the Millers season?

It seems foolish to be asking that question when we aren’t three months into the season but Rotherham’s next two games are against Shrewsbury Town and Cambridge United both currently sitting in the last two places in League One.

The games are away and I’ve always been of the idea that the home team will always have the advantage but I’m not sure that’s how it works these days – years ago when the crowds were on ‘top of the field of play’ all standing and pushing forward to make their feelings known, I think it was a help, they were they twelfth man but not so much in our bright new stadiums.

Then we’ve got Reading at home, who, like the Millers haven’t been pulling up any trees. Coming into this weekend they are in seventeenth place, their two league wins being at home. Like Rotherham the Shrews have won just one game with Cambridge holding the rest of us up with one point.

Fans on Social Media are saying – demanding – we need two wins from the next three games. Some are even saying if we don’t get at least six points then we could be looking for a new manager – well I find that a little hard to believe.

I really do think we need to put performances into the next three games and I also think that six points isn’t too hard an ask – but, then again, that’s probably why I’m writing about football and not in the dugout!

That last away win keeps moving further and further into the distance. Wouldn’t it be nice to put ‘that one’ to bed in the next couple of games?

And, as we know, winning breeds confidence.

It’s been a extremely worrying and disappointing campaign so far one win and little very else to make us think that the millers can get there season up and running it’s been huff and puff but most certainly not blowing the opposition away looking extremely disjointed at times coming out second best in possession and passing stats forwards firing blanks midfield weak and decidedly iffy at the back can we turn it around against Shrewsbury and Cambridge both below us in the league failure to do so and the excuses will have run out Evans and maybe the patience of the supporters also promotion favourites we are more like relegation certs if we don’t see a massive improvement all round will the second coming of Steve Evans prove to be fruitful or is it going to be a lame duck
