Rotherham United travel to Boundary Park (SportsDirect.com Park ) this afternoon to take on an Oldham side who are languishing just out of the relegation zone in League One.
The Latics haven’t had the best of season’s so far with their last home win of the season being last month when they put five past fellow strugglers Northampton Town.
In contrast the Millers have won their last three away games – which is a bit different to last season – and are sitting pretty just outside the play-off positions
Richie Wellens – Paul Warne is a great character and has a good affection with Rotherham. It’s a fantastic first job for him. In the last two games they have changed their style of play but we will be aware of their qualities.
Paul Warne – We’ve watched Richie’s team over the last couple of weeks and they like to play out from the back and they also make it difficult for you to play against. We won’t be going there and underestimating them because we are expecting a tough test.
Oldham Athletic Team News:
The hosts will be missing their Manager, Paul Wellens, who is serving a touchline ban after comments he made to the match officials on New Years Day. Two former Millers who Rotherham won’t be meeting this afternoon are Paul Green and Ollie Banks after both have gone out on loan spells but Oldham have brought in another former Rotherham fans favourite in Ben Pringle.
Player to watch: Ben Pringle
I don’t think Oldham have brought him in just to sit on the bench looking pretty and surely must play some part in the game
Rotherham United Team News:
Rotherham United will have Jon Taylor back after being on the sidelines since mid-November, whether he will be in the starting eleven or on the bench waits to be seen. Paul Warne could also start new boy Michael Smith up front but will probably go with the pairing of David Ball and Jerry Yates.
Player to watch: Will Vaulks
Will want to show off his trademark back-flip after scoring his first goal of the new year this afternoon
