Rotherham reserves played Scunthorpe reserves yesterday at Glanford Park and were beaten by two goals to nil, in the first game of the Pontins Holiday League.

The home side’s Peter Winn slammed the ball goalwards and Steven Cann in the Millers goal couldn’t hold onto it and Daniel McBreen was the first to react and opened the scoring just after half time. The visitors were thrawted time and again by some good defending and the one time they had the ball in the net it was ruled out for offside. On the sixtieth minute, Scunthorpe’s ‘keeper Josh Lillis kicked the ball downfield for McBreen, who nodded the ball for Winn to get onto the end of and score the second goal.

The club say that there were pleasing performances from both Jamie Green and Sam Duncum.
