The Millers second pre-season friendly is against Forest

Rotherham United v Nottingham Forest

Billy Davies brings his Nottingham Forest side to Don Valley for the Millers’ second pre-season friendly on Wednesday night.

The last time the two clubs met was in the 2006/07 season in League One when both games ended in one-all draws. In the first game at Millmoor, Will Hoskins put the home side in the lead on the hour but two minutes before time, Nathan Tyson got the equaliser for Forest in front of just under 8,000 people. In the game five months later at the City Ground, again the Millers went into the lead with a Chris O’Grady goal on ten minutes before Grant Holt scored from the penalty spot eleven minutes later for the home side. The crowd that day was 27,875. The last time the Millers beat Forest was in September 1956 and the score was 3-2 at Millmoor.

In the thirty-six League and Cup games between the two sides, Forest have won twenty, the Millers seven and there have been nine draws.

Nottingham Forest finished nineteenth in the Championship last season with Billy Davies coming in as manager on 1st January this year and after securing Forest’s place in the Championship for next season Davies is quoted as saying that it was ‘the proudest moment in his managerial career.’

Forest have completed the signings of Chris Gunter from Tottenham and Paul McKenna from Preston North End this week and it’s possible that they might get a run-out tomorrow evening at Don Valley.

The game is a 7.45pm kick-off and admission is Adults £10 and Concessions £5 – there are no free Under 8’s for friendly games.
