Rotherham United’s loanee goalkeeper Marek Rodak appears to have played his last game in a Millers shirt.
The twenty-two year old is in his second loan season with Rotherham from Fulham and it is thought that he has caught mumps from striker Jerry Yates, who was sent home from West Brom last week with the illness.
It was hoped that Fulham might have let the Slovakian U21 International for another season but Millers Manager Paul Warne told Radio Sheffield that it didn’t look likely.
‘I had a conversation with Fulham four weeks ago,’ the Gaffer said, ‘and they want him as part of their squad next year.
‘But Marek has been a big part of us for two years and I’m grateful to Fulham for allowing him to develop here so I will still have the conversation but I don’t think it’s happening.’
Marek joined the Millers in August 2018 making his debut in a three-two home win against Bury. He went on to make thirty-nine appearances last season helping the Millers win the League One Play-Off Final at Wembley. He re-joined the Millers in July last year playing forty-six times this season.
Rotherham have Lewis Price, who has mostly been on the bench this season, just making two appearances both in the League Cup and Laurence Bilboe who is yet to make a first team appearance. So, I think it’s obvious that Paul Warne will be on the look for a new ‘keeper in the close season.
