Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne has confirmed today what we hinted at last week, that Darren Potter is going to be out for some time.

Speaking to Freeview today the Millers Boss said, ‘Potter has had to have another operation so he won’t be seeing this year.’

Warney says that this is a big blow for the Millers and I have to agree. We might not have seen much of Potts last season (eighteen appearances) but what we did see of him I thought he was going to be our stay-pin in midfield.

But, what will be will be and it means that Warney and his back room staff will be looking for a replacement with Nottingham Forest’s Ryan Yates seemingly being the one that the Millers are courting at the moment.

This would possibly be a good move for the twenty year old and for Forest who will expect him to get games at Championship level, which will help them assess how he goes on.

Also missing for the start of the season could be new loanee Zak Vyner who got an injury while the squad were in Austria, although it’s not as bad as first feared.
