Millers Hope To Get New Players In Next Few Days

|

Rotherham United are hoping to bring in another six or seven players before the start of the new season next month with Millers Manager Paul Warne hoping there will be a couple of new faces in the squad in the next few days.

Saying that he feels the team needs more depth all over the pitch, the Millers Boss told Radio Sheffield that he needs to make sure that any player they do recruit are better than what are already in the squad.

The Millers have been linked with a player from Holland but that deal has fallen through although it could be something that will be re-visited in January.

Asked about getting loan players in Warney said said that he doesn’t like to have more than five loan players in the squad but realised that in the Championship you don’t only need footballers you need athletes – which is something I think, under Paul Warne, Rotherham United have always had as I don’t think he would have any player that isn’t fit.

Warne did say that although he’s not predominantly after loan players in Premier League if there are any players in the top tier of English football who think they might get more game time this season in the Championship then the Millers might have a chance of getting some in but it would probably be ‘late in the day’. Saying that, Rotherham do have a good relationship with some of the Premier League clubs so that could count for something.

I think the Gaffer is right in saying he doesn’t want more than five loan players in. For one reason it could happen, and has to the Millers, that their parent club need them back or think they aren’t getting enough game time so call them back which disrupts the plans the management have for the team.

Once again Warney did say that a goalkeeper is a must and that he does have a few options for that position saying that he wants a ‘keeper who dominates in the box and takes chances. Me, I just want someone who can stop the ball going in the net.

Up The Millers.
