Millers Have Plenty Of Shots At Goal

Yesterday’s South Yorkshire derby at the New York Stadium when the Millers entertained Sheffield United ended two-two.

And, really, we might go on about stats but that’s the only one that counts.

I’ve looked at the stats for yesterday’s televised game and was disappointed to see that Rotherham United only had forty-three per cent of possession. I was sure we had more than our neighbours.

We did win more in the air and had one more corner more than the Blades and had a whopping twenty-six (yes, twenty-six) shots at goal of which eight were on target although the Millers shooting accuracy was only thirty-one per cent. I know I’ve said this time and again but I do think we should be getting more of those ‘shots on target’ in the back of the net. In the opening fifteen minutes or so yesterday we had three good chances to score but didn’t.

At least we know we can shoot and we can make a goalkeeper move to save a shot – and we can tackle too – but most of all we know we can fight and keep going and I’m pretty proud to be a Miller at the moment. I’m quite sure you are too.
