Millers Game With Bury In Doubt

Rotherham United will know on Thursday of this week (the 15th) whether or not their League One game at the New York Stadium with Bury will go ahead.

The EFL have suspended their League game on Saturday against Gillingham as they are still waiting for clarity on plans to meet the Club’s commitments to football creditors, payment to unsecured creditors as part of the Company Voluntary Arrangement alongside source and sufficiency of funding for season 2019/20.

Bury have yet to play a game this season having already had games against MK Dons and Accrington Stanley called off plus tonight’s Cup game with Sheffield Wednesday cancelled (how this one is going to work out I don’t know – if the worst should happen will the Owls go through automatically? I actually think the situation should have been resolved before any cup games became involved).

The Shakers, who have been around for more than one hundred and thirty-four years, are in danger of expulsion from the League and have until Friday, 23rd August to ‘sort things out’.

I never want to see a football club go bust – but for the grace of god etc that could well have been us – but surely this can’t be allowed to go on, with clubs not knowing if they have a game coming up or not.

Let’s hope Bury can get something sorted very soon.
