Rotherham United’s pre-season friendly away at Farsley Celtic has been called off due to Millers Manager Paul Warne thinking the pitch not fit to play on.
Speaking to the Official Site the Millers Boss said it was with a ‘heavy heart’ that he called the game off saying, ‘Looking at the pitch it became clear it could potentially cause a risk of injury to both sets of players.’
Warney apologised to the travelling supporters saying he hadn’t taken the decision lightly.
To be honest I was surprised when the game was originally organised for the day after the team arrived home from their training camp in Germany but it is a shame that the game was called off late in the day. But I do think the travelling Millers fans will understand that the players safety is important with just over two weeks to go before the new season starts.
A strong team will travel to the Horsfall Stadium tomorrow evening to take on Bradford Park Avenue where it will be a 7.30pm kick-off.
