Millers Fixture Nightmare

Rotherham United have a bit of a nightmare April to look forward to having eight scheduled games plus another one to fit in where other teams around them in the Championship have five or six games next month.

And the extra games aren’t the Millers fault with a second wave of Covid-19 having gone through the players and staff and followed Government guidelines saying that they had to isolate plus a game called off due to the oppositions FA Cup commitment.

After the away win at Bristol City Millers Assistant Manger Richie Barker told Radio Sheffield that it’s going to be a ‘real tough time’ with ‘lots of ups and downs’ saying that he hoped it wouldn’t go down to goal difference.

During the International break the Millers are having some tough training to get them back up to speed and to help them through the probably the toughest month the Millers have had to face for many years.

‘We are going to be down to, pretty much, a game every three days,’ Richie said, ‘with very little training in between.’

It is going to be quite manic next month starting with one of four away games on Good Friday, and, as it stands, ending with two away games at the end of the month with a game at home to Coventry to try and fit in somewhere.

Millers Run-In

April
2nd – Millwall (A)
5th – Wycombe (H)
10th – Huddersfield (A)
13th – QPR (H)
17th – Birmingham (H)
21st – Middlesbrough (H)
24th – Barnsley (A)
27th – Brentford (A)

May
1st – Blackburn (H)
4th – Luton (A)
8th – Cardiff (A)

*plus a home game with Coventry to fit in.

It’s always been thought that fifty points will be enough to keep Rotherham in the Championship – which means they need to get fifteen points from the above games.  Realistically, if we win five of our six home games then we will have them.  But, of course, we all know that football is never that simple.
But, I’m sure the lads will try their best.

Up The Millers.
