Millers Eyeing Up Non-League Striker

|

Rotherham United are one of two clubs being linked with Ruben Rodrigues of Notts County after NottinghamshireLive reported that the Millers’ Head of Recruitment, Rob Scott, had been at their FA Cup replay against Rochdale last night.

Born in Portugal the twenty-five year old forward made National League side County his first English club when he moved to Meadow Lane in August last year. Since then he’s played in fifty-four games hitting the net nineteen times in all competitions, seven of those this season.

The Magpies are currently in fifth place in the National League with Ruben seventh in the top scorers of the league.

I rather think, as fans, in our minds we will be thinking that the club will be wanting to fetch in a player in the January window to replace the likes of Michael Smith or Chieo Ogbene. Of course, we don’t want these players to leave, but they are in the spotlight in League One at the moment so . . .

But is this the sort of player we should be looking at?

Ruben certainly knows where to find the net and it seems there are clubs in the league above us who are also keeping an eye on him and he’s played in the second tier in the Netherlands. Yet, he hasn’t played any English league football. Then again, who knows, he might just take it all in his stride and fit straight in?

We will need to keep an eye on this one I think.
