Rotherham United have had a ‘constructive conversation’ with the first signing of the close season Assistant Manager Richie Barker told the Official Site today.
Saying he was ‘pleased’ with the progress made he also gave caution saying, ‘but until deals are actually over the line and the player walks through the door and signs, nothing is guaranteed.’
As Richie says, there has been no significant signings going on up to now with the play-offs still in full swing but the Millers are hoping to get this player in on loan within the next week.
The Millers four loanees from the season just gone are all back with their parent clubs while discussions with the likes of Jon Taylor, Anthony Forde and Joe Newell are still ongoing the club have exercised an option in Joe Mattock’s contract for next season.
Rotherham have got League One experience within the squad but Manager Paul Warne and Barker will be hoping to add to that experience whether with loan players or signings, though I suspect more of the former than the latter, before the team go on their training camp to Germany in July.
