Millers Boss On The Monsoon, Changes And Win

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne saw his team climb out of the bottom three at tea-time today after a two-one away win at Preston North End.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield the Millers Boss first praised the groundsmen at Preston for managing to drain the pitch during a ‘monsoon’.

‘I thought we were poor first half,’ the Gaffer carried on about the game, ‘with Preston causing us all sorts of problems and I was pleased to get in at half-time with a clean sheet.’

I have to agree with Warney, we weren’t great the first half. Nothing, except the rain, flowed and we were caught ball watching on a couple of occasions and I don’t suppose the pitch helped with our passing.

We were better in the second half with the Gaffer saying, ‘We created lots of chances in the second half and I’m disappointed we didn’t score a third. But they got one back and then we were defending for our lives. Fortunately for us we had a bit of lady luck and it was a really good win.’

There were five changes for the start of the game which, as the Gaffer rightly says, meant we had a strong bench to come on if/or when needed. Knowing he’d get criticised for the changes he made Warney said, ‘but I keep going on about it being a squad game yet if I play the same players it isn’t and I have complete trust in all of my players. So making those five changes today didn’t weaken us it just made us a different animal.’

Out of the bottom three, the Millers Boss said, ‘I wish it was the last game of the season.’

Amen to that!
