Millers Boss Has Nothing But Praise For Stockport

|

Rotherham United find themselves in the hat for the third round draw after beating Stockport County at the New York Stadium this evening – but it wasn’t as easy as it might have looked on paper.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the one-nil win Millers Manager Paul Warne said that he knew that game would be a tough one tonight.

‘Stockport were really well organised, really up for it,’ the Millers Boss said, ‘and there crowd were the best I’ve ever witnessed here. They were so noisy we couldn’t get instructions on to the lads. And it wasn’t the fact that we weren’t at our best the opposition were excellent.

Ed Note – but the Millers weren’t at their best tonight.

‘I thought we overplayed it a little in the first half and I wasn’t best pleased at half-time. We started the second half really well but we needed that second goal and that would probably have settled us. But in the last ten minutes there is no disputing it we were hanging on.

‘But it was a real good cup game and I really enjoyed it.

‘All in all we’ve played better but I’m pleased that we’ve gone through.’

Richard Wood went off at half-time as a precaution and Shane Ferguson was feeling ill but both should be fit for Tuesday night.
