Millers Being Linked With Centre-Back

|

Rotherham United are being linked with Fleetwood Town’s Cian Bolger.

The twenty-six year old centre-back came through the Youth ranks with Leicester City and while with the Foxes had loan spells with Bristol City before moving to Bolton Wanderers in January 2013.

Never making a first team appearance for Wanderers and after a successful loan spell with Southend, Cian moved to Roots Hall on a permanent deal in August 2014.

Cian played a number of games for the Shrimpers and his CV includes a penalty at Wembley in a shoot-out in the 2015 League Two Play-Off Final helping the team to promotion.

The summer of 2016 saw the defender join Fleetwood Town and he played in both games against Rotherham last season, scoring in the Millers three-two win at the New York Stadium in April.

The Millers probably do need a centre-back with, dare we say, Richard Wood not being as young as he was and the Championship being a tough, quick league. Paul Warne has said that he is close to signing someone who played against the Millers last season and Cian does fit that role. Saying that, Cian’s football has been played in the lower leagues and, I don’t know about you, but I’d rather like to think we could get someone at the back who has played higher up in English football.
