Millers Away At Blackburn – Stats

I am feeling a bit ‘down’ after watching Rotherham United’s game away at Blackburn Rovers this evening because I really do think we deserved a point from our performance. And, not for the first time I am a bit puzzled about some of the stats from the game at Ewood Park.

Could it really be that Rovers had sixty-seven per cent of the possession? And were they really better than us at the duels with the hosts percentage being fifty-three – I’m sure I saw both Matt Olosunde and Matt Crooks win/steal the ball off an opponent on more occasions than the other way round.

I was also surprised that we didn’t have a corner, though Blackburn only had three themselves. Our passing accuracy comes out at forty-eight per cent to Rovers’ seventy five per cent though our crossing accuracy is better at thirty-nine per cent to their twenty-five – I thought some of their crosses in the first half into the box were pretty poor.

While the hosts had eleven shots at goal of which four were on target the Millers had one on target from ten shots and we had one shot from outside the box and nine inside. Both sides conceded twelve fouls and there were five yellow cards – three to the Millers and two to the hosts.

I’m not sure how anyone else feels but I’m not sure about fetching on three subs at one time.   Not that I’m saying the subs had anything to do with the goals being scored except three changes at once seems a bit extreme to me – perhaps it’s just that I can’t keep pace with all the subs being made! And I hate it when teams ‘take it into the corner’ to try and hold on, it’s very negative, and, frankly we aren’t good at it so I’d like to see that stop.

But, I do think we played alright tonight. When we scored it seem to hit Blackburn for six. And the players all tried, you can’t deny that.

Another home game this weekend when Derby County who won tonight are the visitors. A win would be nice, please.
