Rotherham United have further added to the squad by fetching in Mallik Wilks on loan from neighbours Sheffield Wednesday – subject to EFL and FA ratification.
Born in Leeds twenty-five year old Mallik is a winger/striker who spent his youth career with his home club coming through the Academy at Elland Road before signing a scholarship in 2015. At the end of December 2016 he signed his first professional contract and made his first team debut off the bench in an FA Cup game away to Sutton United.
After that Mallik went out on loan to several clubs, spending a season with Accrington Stanley then Grimsby Town in League Two where he was amongst the goals before he helped Doncaster Rovers to the 2018/19 League One Play-Offs. The summer of 2019 saw him sever ties with Leeds and sign for Barnsley scoring six Championship goals before a loan spell with Hull City saw him sign a permanent deal with them in July 2020 helping them to promotion from League One. The 2022/23 season he played twice for the Tigers before moving to Hillsborough for an undisclosed fee scoring twice in twenty-six appearances before making eighteen appearances, one at the New York Stadium, last season, his last game coming on Good Friday.
Mallik was named in the 2021 League One PFA Team Of The Year.
All at Vital Rotherham welcome Mallik to the New York Stadium.
