Long Ball Millers?

Rotherham United and Reading had to settle for a point apiece at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday after the Millers got a one-all draw thanks to a goal ten minutes from time from Semi Ajayi.

After the game Royals Manager Jose Gomes said it was a tough game and Rotherham like to play direct football telling football.london, ‘even when they had fouls in their half the goalkeeper came out to kick it.’

Erm, yes we do do that. Marek Rodak is a very good kicker of a ball and so why shouldn’t we use him to the best of our advantage? It is the old fashioned way but if it works why not?

Gomes also said, ‘a lot of time the ball was in the air so it was difficult for us, at times, to get the ball down to play.’

Well, we aren’t going to make it easy for you are we? Again we are going to do the best we can to get the points.

‘I am not happy and the players are not happy about this result which in my opinion we didn’t deserve. We deserved to win based on the goal situations we created but we must put the ball in the net,’ the Reading Boss said.

I’d like to say I’m sorry that Rotherham United made Mr Gomes and his lads unhappy but, truthfully, I’m not.

Millers Manager Paul Warne said he was a ‘bit offended’ for his players in Mr Gomes’ comments.

Do we play long ball as Reading think we do? Maybe we do sometimes – there are times when we probably don’t take more than four passes to get the ball from one end of the pitch and we like a long throw from Will Vaulks, it’s as good as a corner for us, into the box. But, despite having a tall centre-forward, I don’t think we are a hoof it up in the air team as it was implied on Saturday.

Are we?
