It’s been a busy week for Rotherham United – the first full week of training since returning last Thursday from the summer break for the players while the staff have been busy moving others in and out.

Those of us who ordered Season Tickets they are now ready to collect from the Red and White Shop at the ground – looking at Facebook many of you seem to have done that!

Having been on loan last season at Charlton and helping them to the Championship, left-back Ben Purrington has joined them for ‘an undisclosed fee’. Also moving to the Championship is Dominic Ball who the club released at the end of the season. He’s joined Queens Park Rangers while another released player Emmanuel Onariase has joined Dagenham and Redbridge.

On the other side of the coin the Millers have brought in Dan Barlaser on a season long loan from Premier League Newcastle United and USA International Matthew Olosunde who was recently plying his trade with Manchester United.

At the start of the week the club made it clear that there would be no new bid for Southend’s midfielder Dru Yearwood. On Friday Matty Palmer left for a season long loan to Bradford City, although the Millers do have a re-call in the contract in January if needed.

After winning the Hospice Cup at a Twenty/20 cricket game at Wickersley on Friday, it was back to football on Saturday with the first pre-season friendly against Parkgate FC at Roundwood. Goal from Joshua Kayode, Matt Crooks (2) and Michael Smith gave the Millers a four-nil lead going into half-time with two goals, one from the penalty spot, for Jamie Proctor and another from Carlton Morris in the second half giving the visitors a seven-nil win.

The squad are off to Germany now for a training camp and a couple of games over there, one behind closed doors. Like last season in Austria, it’s possible that new signings could make their way out to join the lads over there. I believe a goalkeeper is on the list and there have been rumours again that Grant Ward could be on his way to the New York Stadium.

For those wanting to go to the home friendly games against West Brom and Leicester City Ticket details are on the Official Site and the Spireites have given us five hundred tickets for the friendly at the Proact Stadium with details also on the Official Site.

All in all, it’s not been a bad week has it?
