League Cup Preview – Millers v Owls

|

Rotherham United welcome neighbours Sheffield Wednesday for the second round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening.

The Millers came through the first round with a resounding four-nil win away at Shrewsbury while the Owls had a bye after the problems with Bury.  Both sides were knocked at this stage of the competition last season, both by Premier League sides.  The Millers lost at Goodison Park against Everton while the Owls had a home tie with Wolves losing two-nil.

While Sheffield Wednesday lost their last away game (on Saturday) at Preston the Millers last home game also saw them lose out to Lincoln City.

Rotherham United could have Matt Olosunde back in the squad and although he’s trained this week will it be a risk? Although Julien Lamy is back in training he along with Billy Jones won’t make it and there is still a doubt over Carlton Morris.

Wednesday’s caretaker Manager Lee Bullen told The Star that he ‘expects Rotherham to ask a lot of questions and the management and team will be up for it.’

will give a late fitness test to defender Liam Palmer who has missed the last two games with a back injury. Cameron Dawson is expected to take over in goal and Dominic Iorfa could get his second chance of the season while there could be a debut for David Bates who joined from Hamburg in the summer.

Charles Breakspear from Surrey has the whistle for this game.
