Rotherham United’s first foray into the cup competitions this season sees them travel to Vale Park to take on Port Vale in the Carabao Cup.

The Millers and Vale have met just once before in this competition which was in 2005 and was then called the Carling Cup. The game at Millmoor saw an own goal from Steve Rowland on the forty-first minutes give the hosts the lead but it only last minutes with Micky Cummins, who later joined Rotherham, equalising on the stroke of half-time. Deon Burton put the Millers back in front with Jon Otsemobor making it three-one just before the full-time whistle.

Last season the Millers didn’t make it past the first round with the game at the New York Stadium seeing Accrington Stanley win two-one. The exact same fate fell to Vale who had a home tie with Sunderland and also lost two-one.
