Rotherham United are thought to be one of the clubs taking an interest in Scunthorpe midfielder Duane Holmes.

The now twenty-three year old began his football career with Huddersfield Town and after a couple of loan spells in 2016 he signed for the Iron who he has made over ninety appearances for, fifty-four of those being this season.

Sky Sports are saying that fellow Championship sides Blackburn Rovers and Derby County are also looking at Holmes.

As it stands the Millers have a number of midfielders, Will Vaulks, Anthony Forde, Joe Newell, Ryan Williams and Jon Taylor although they do play in other positions but there’s Matty Palmer as well as fit again Darren Potter. That’s quite a few who can play in midfield and I’m not saying we don’t need another midfielder but I imagine one coming in will be down the pecking order a little.

I’d also like to think that we could have a chance of fetching Richie Towell back after his loan spell with Rotherham last season and now we are in the Championship I think we have more of a chance than if we’d not got promoted.

We’ve also got youngster Ben Wiles who having signed a new one year extension to his contract this week should be hoping to get a chance in or around the first team next season.

But should we be looking at a midfielder then Duane Holmes has played a number of games in the Championship for the Terriers so wouldn’t be a bad shout would he?
