Rotherham suffered their first defeat of the season at Saltergate this afternoon with a goal in time added on by Alan Goodall.

The Millers started the game the better and it was nearly ten minutes before Andy Warrington, in the Millers goal, had a save to make. Nick Fenton had the first chance of a goal when he headed just wide from a Mark Hudson corner on five minutes. After ten minutes the home side had the ball in the net but the linesman flagged for offside. Just after that Darren Currie had a shot saved by Warrington. Ryan Taylor found Reuben Reid a few minutes later but the striker fired just over. Ten minutes after this , Nick Fenton fire just wide from a Mark Burchill cross. On the thirty seventh mintue, Mark Lynch managed to get to Jamie Ward and clear the ball away when he looked like he would put the home side one up.

The second half started in pouring rain and the unusually quiet Millers fans were even quieter as they stood out in the open and saw the Spireites have the first chance at goal when Derek Niven tested Warrington from distance. A few minutes later, Warrington once again saved from Niven and it was 60 minutes before Rotherham had a shot towards goal from Mickey Cummins but this shot was well wide. The referee, Mr Atwell, who might as well have been wearing a blue shirt, extraordinarily booked Mark Hudson for taking a free kick too quickly. In the last ten minutes, Mark Lynch sent a superb ball to Ryan Taylor who headed just wide of the goal. Then, Andy Warrington made a great finger tip save from Jamie Winter and with five minutes to go, Warrington made another good save from Ward. Fenton had to go off suffering from cramp and, with the fourth official putting up the board for four injury time minutes, the Millers let down their guard and up popped Goodall to get the full three points for the home side.
