A Rotherham United Reserve side, which included a number of first-teamers, took on Doncaster Rovers Reserve at Cantley Park this afternoon and came out five-one winners.

Within two minutes of the start of the game Josh Koroma, on loan from Huddersfield Town, smashed the ball into the bottom of the net to give the Millers the lead with Trevor Clarke coming close a couple of minutes later. On the thirteenth minute Koroma did well to get a cross in from the edge of the area finding Jamie Lindsay who made it two-nil to the visitors. Ten minutes later a Rovers attack ended with Koroma pinching the ball and running down the pitch sending in a cross which Rovers’ ‘keeper punched away to safety. Just past the half-hour mark Trevor Clarke made it three-nil and was unlucky not to make it four after rounding the ‘keeper only to see a defender clear off the line. On the stroke of half-time Koroma won a free-kick which he took himself and saw the ball go inches past the upright.

With five minutes of the second half gone Rotherham were four in front after the ‘keeper had initially saved from Trevor Clarke but only found Wilfred Peel-Evans who slotted home. Three minutes later Doncaster pulled one back with Millers’ ‘keeper Laurence Bilboe making a smart save to stop it being two a minute later. Jamie Lindsay made if five-one on sixty-four minutes and shortly after Trevor Clarke, Josh Koroma, Jamie Lindsay and Shaun MacDonald were all subbed.

A good work out for the lads on the fringe of the first team today.
