Rotherham United have signed goalkeeper Dillon Phillips from Cardiff City – subject to ratification from the EFL and FA and international clearance.

Hornchurch born Dillon came through the Charlton Athletic Academy signing a permanent deal with them in 2013. He had two loan spells in the Conference South first with Whitehawk then Bishop’s Stortford before 2015 saw him in the National League Cheltenham Town, spending a season on loan there. His first League games came for the Addicks in November 2016 after playing in three Football League Trophy matches. He became the ‘number one’ ‘keeper in 2018 helping Charlton to the League One Play-Off Final at Wembley where they beat Sunderland two-one. Unfortunately he couldn’t keep them in the Championship and after playing over one hundred games for Charlton the 2020/21 season saw him move to Wales with Cardiff City. He played thirty-six Championship games for the Bluebirds, including the abandoned one against the Millers, before securing a loan move last season to Belgian with Division One side Oostende, being their second choice ‘keeper, making twelve appearances.

All at Vital Rotherham welcome Dillon to the New York Stadium.
