While the rest of us were on our way down South to London to take in the Rotherham United’s first away game of the season against Wimbledon, young Joshua Kayode was going in the complete opposite direction to join Gateshead on loan.

Born in Nigeria, Joshua came through the Youth ranks at the New York Stadium and made his first-team debut in August 2017 in an EFL Trophy game against a Manchester City U21 side and also played the next game in that competition away at Bradford City and soon after signed his first professional contract with the Millers keeping him with Rotherham until 2020.

Last season the now nineteen-year-old had a loan spell with National League side Chesterfield who he made three appearances for.

Josh will be with Vanarama National League North side Gateshead until 11th January next year came on in their goalless draw against Southend yesterday on the fifty-third-minute mark.

All at Vital Rotherham wish him well with his loan spell at Gateshead
