Rotherham United were handed a bit of a wake-up call on Saturday when fourth from bottom of League One Rochdale beat them three-one.

The Millers performance has left a lot of fans disgruntled with some fans at the game actually making their opinions felt with boos at the end of the game with others turning to social media to vent their feelings.

A year ago Rotherham United were sat in twenty-second place of the Championship which is where they finished the season hence the First Division this season. On paper it looked like we should have been in the top three going into the season but football doesn’t work like that. We had a stop/start beginning to this season and at the end of September we were lying around mid-table although the end of 2019 saw us in third spot behind Oxford and Wycombe.

We went to Oxford in January, won three-one and went to the top of the table. Apart from a week we stopped at the top until the beginning of March when Coventry beat Sunderland and swapped places with the Millers. Oxford are in third place and Wycombe have dropped out of the play-off places although are still very much in touch – those being the two teams who were above us going into the New Year.

I don’t know what it was on Saturday but things didn’t look right to me from the start, the side looked a bit lopsided and our passing was possible the worst I’d seen this season. But, we are still in second place, still in an automatic promotion place, still hoping to go up.

It’s now that the team need to know that our supporters are all behind them. You know, it’s really easy to support a team when they are playing well and in top spot but it’s now when that team, those players, want to know that they have our support. It’s now they need cheering, geeing up, applauding. It’s now they need to know that we want them at our football club and that we will be there to back them even when things aren’t going how we want it to.

Sing Loud, Sing Proud on Saturday.

Up The Millers.
