It’s All So Quiet

Like the Bjork song the news coming out of the New York Stadium in the January Transfer Window has been ‘oh so quiet’.

With just five days to go there is no sign of anyone coming in to join the ranks of Rotherham United with the only movement being Tolaji Bola going out on loan to Burton Albion.

We did get excited when we saw some breaking news which turned out to be Head of Recruitment, Rob Scott, getting a new title of Director of Football in the middle of the month, although he’s still doing his recruitment job as well. Which begs the question ‘is he busy directing and not recruiting’ or ‘has he not enough to do recruiting to have taken on this second job’? (I’m sure none of those are true).

But, it is a bit of a worry isn’t it. Unless, of course, all of our injured players are going to be up and running next week (but I’m not holding my breath).

Up until the last few days we hadn’t even had as much as a rumour coming our way and the ‘sure’ rumour we then had seems to be very close to signing for another club.

This time last year we had brought in Sean Morrison, Leo Hjelde, Tariqe Fosu, Jordan Hugill and Conor Coventry.

Of course it could be like the Bjork song and ‘zing boom’ before the window ends we might be seeing half a dozen names coming through the door – after all we did wait until the final day last year to fetch in Bailey Wright and Domingos Quina.

And maybe it’s not a bad thing not hearing any rumours. It could well be that the club are keeping things very close to their chests so nobody else can nip in and ‘steal’ our wanted players – we’ve had that before.

So, I suppose, there is time and we’ve not got to give up hope until the fat lady sings – though, I do feel, she’s definitely warming up those vocal chords.

Up The Millers.
