Ins, Outs, Shake It All About

Rotherham United fans have been speculating whether the Millers will be using the January Transfer Window and fetching players in or sending them out before it closes later this week.

Rotherham Manager Paul Warne was hoping to have a player in before Saturday’s game with Leeds – well, as we know, that didn’t happen with the Millers Boss telling us that the player’s team had needed him on the bench on Saturday. So, I think a lot of us were expecting this player to arrive on Monday. Well today is Wednesday and there is just today and tomorrow to fetch someone in.

In an interview last week Chairman Tony Stewart told Radio Sheffield that he thought there would be two or three coming in before the window shuts.

Yesterday, Warney told The Star that he also wants at least two bodies in before 11pm on Thursday but he isn’t ‘getting his hopes up.’

After hearing this I do wonder what happened to the player he met and spoke to who really wanted to come to the New York Stadium. Will he be here for our trip to Millwall on Saturday or will he arrive at all?

Warney also said that players could go out to other clubs if he thinks it will benefit the player and the club but if he doesn’t think it will be good for the club then any player wanting to leave will have to ‘sit down and shut up.’

One thing we do know is that Carlisle United are hoping to get striker Jerry Yates back on loan. The twenty-two year old went on loan to Brunton Park at the beginning of the season and scored seven goals for the League Two club in twenty-nine appearances before being recalled by the Millers in January due to an injury crisis.

So Yates could go back out on loan but who is being linked with Rotherham? Well, this week, Keinan Davis of Aston Villa is the name being bandied about by people, a midfielder/striker who has made one appearance for the Villains this season. I’ve also seen striker Sam Winnall, currently with neighbours Sheffield Wednesday linked while the rumour that Leon Clarke of Sheffield United was on his way to the New York Stadium quashed last week.

So, will we get a player or players in? Will some leave the New York Stadium? Still in an injury crisis will it be a bit of a shake-up and players having to play out of position on Saturday?

As usual we are being told that the club are hopeful of getting a player or players in. We shall just have to wait and see and keep pressing the re-fresh button until the window shuts.
