Important Job For Millers Boss In Summer

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne knows that amongst his jobs this summer is the important one of tying Will Vaulks down for longer than the year that the club have triggered on the midfielder’s contract.

This week the Millers announced that the club had taken up the option on Vaulks’ contract with Warney telling The Star that he tried to get the twenty-five year old to sign a longer contract but it didn’t work out.

‘He’s been one of our top performers and it was a no brainer taking up this option.’ said the Millers Boss. ‘By taking that extra year it gives us another fourteen to sixteen months to convince him to stay. That will be one of my jobs in the summer.’

When the news broke earlier this week about Vaulks getting an extra year’s contract there were some fans on social media who said ‘he should have been given longer’ which, I think, a lot of us thought – but at least we now know it wasn’t the fault of the club.

Coming towards the end of the season there are actually a number of players who will come to the end of their current contracts including regular first team players Jon Taylor, Joe Mattock and Anthony Forde. I wonder if these three have been offered new contracts or will be offered new contracts?
