I’m Not So Sure About These Percentages

Let’s be honest most people were under the impression that Rotherham United would suffer a major defeat away at Leeds yesterday – but, definitely for the first forty-five minutes we held our own and, hopefully, silenced the doubters.

It was definitely a game of two halves. In the first Paul Warne’s side were perhaps not on top but equaled everything that Leeds did. In the second, frankly, it looked like a different side had put the shirts on and weren’t sure what to do.

In the first half our football flowed, we fought for the ball, we harried the hosts. In the second we rarely had the ball in the first half-an-hour or so and when we did get away then our wingers looked up and there was nobody to pass too.

But, I did raise my eyebrows when I saw the stats that say the Millers only had twenty-six per cent of the possession. Surely, that can’t be right?

Then again, I often wonder where ‘they’ (whoever ‘they’ may be) get some of these stats from
