Rotherham United defender Michael Ihiekwe has pledged another two years to the Millers by signing an extension to his contract today, subject to EFL and FA ratification.

The now twenty-six year old joined the Millers from Tranmere Rovers in the summer of 2017 scoring his first goal in a five-one home win against Oldham Athletic in the September. In that first season he helped Rotherham to the League One Play-Off Final at Wembley playing in the two semi-final games against Scunthorpe.

The following season he found himself out on loan with Accrington Stanley before being recalled and going on to feature in fifteen games scoring twice. This season Michael has played fourteen times scoring his first goal of the season on Saturday at home to Oxford United.

This new deal will keep Michael at the New York Stadium until the summer of 2022.

I think this is great news for Millers fans.
