I Mean, Really?

I’ve just read an article from The Football League World suggesting that Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne could be thinking of releasing two more players.

The first one is winger Alex Bray who originally joined the Millers on loan from Swansea in January 2017 before the deal was made permanent two months later. At twenty-two it was thought that Bray would be ‘one for the future’ but after just nine games in a Millers shirt, and just one of those starting a game, things haven’t gone so well for the Bath born player. At the end of January this year Alex went out on loan to Forest Green Rovers making eleven appearances and helping them stay in the Football League. It’s early days in pre-season but Alex hasn’t been involved in either friendly game so far. So, like Gary Hutchinson of the FLW I have to agree I think his days are numbered at the New York Stadium.

But my eyebrows were raised with the other name Mr Hutchinson came out with – Jon Taylor. I mean, really?

Tayls joined the Millers from Peterborough in 2016 and has made seventy-five appearances in a Rotherham shirt, thirty-two of those being last season despite an injury that kept him out of all December and majority of November and January too. OK, he might not always be as effective as you’d like but Jon Taylor always gives one hundred per cent, wears his heart on his sleeve and Richard Wood’s hat on his head.

I think that we will find that Jon Taylor is very much a Rotherham United player next season – and maybe for seasons to come.  What are your thoughts?
