How Would You Rate The Millers Players v Derby?

Rotherham United probably weren’t expected to win this afternoon against a Derby County team who had entered the International break on the back of three wins (four if you count the EFL Cup).

But, those Millers boys fought for every ball this afternoon. OK, they might not always have won but when they did something wrong, straight away they went to make amends.

That’s why I think today’s game was a complete team effort. And I think it’s going to be very difficult to chose a Man of the Match – although the sponsors gave it to penalty scorer Ryan Manning.

I can’t disagree with that, I thought he had a very good game but so did all the players, even the ones who came off the subs bench.

Marek Rodak probably didn’t have as much to do as he thought he might but what he had to do he did with confidence (and no, he didn’t come up for our corners! Though, if we’d been one down and in time added on … well, we won’t know will we!).

Our back four kept Derby out and you can’t ask for any more than that. We had a solid midfield and we have to mention Richie Towell making a second debut in a Millers shirt this afternoon – I’d forgotten he’d ever been away. I also want to mention Zak Vyner who was taking a bit of stick from some of the fans at the start of the season – this lad has come on in leaps and bounds and some of his crossing today was excellent.

Kyle Vassell caused the Rams defence some problems and Michael Smith was probably unlucky not to have had a goal and was definitely unlucky not to have some fouls given for him with the pushing and tugging, pulling and elbowing that was going on.

So, here it is, what score are you going to give the Millers players for their performance over Derby?
