How Many Points Should We Get In March?

Early in the month of February I asked the questions Where Will We Be At The End Of The Month?.

When I asked the question we had just got our second win having got the better of Burton Albion at the New York Stadium in a five goal game and then winning away at Lincoln one-nil. We were top of the League.

We went on to get another six points in the month – draws at home to AFC Wimbledon and on Saturday to MK Dons plus one away against Coventry and a late win away at Accrington.

On Saturday, when our month ended we were still sitting at the top of League One, although Coventry City went above us yesterday after their one-nil win against promotion hopeful rivals Sunderland.

But I don’t think we were sitting comfortably and there are those fans amongst us who think we really should be winning our home games and feel we dropped four points in February.

Of course, football doesn’t give you the right to automatically win at home and being in top spot often means that teams who come to play you do so with an extra energy wanting to prove they can beat the top of the League. In fact, I always worry when we play the teams from the bottom of the table.

On Saturday I think MK Dons went toe to toe with us – yes, we had the majority of the play, we had more chances, we got more crosses into the box but, when all said and done, you have to score goals.

As it stands coming into March we are in second place, which is still an automatic place. And we have a good goal difference – twenty-five with only Peterborough, who stand just outside the play-off places having a better difference with twenty-six. We’ve got four games in March which is a possible twelve points, although I do think that will be asking a bit too much. I’d like to think we’d win both our home games, especially the one on TV and it would be great to get two points from our two away games.

What about you? How many points will be get in March? Like me do you think it should be at least eight or do you think we will get more or less? And will the Millers still be in an automatic promotion place?
