How Do The Stats Look – Millers v Baggies

|

Rotherham United’s time in the Championship might have come to an end, but, there is no doubt, on Saturday we gave it our all against what, in effect, is a team that includes a lot of Premier League players.

West Brom are going into the play-offs and could well do the opposite of the Millers by going straight back up after coming down at the end of last season. They are not a team to be sniffed at. Yet, for some unfathomable reason, many of us Millers thought we could come away with a point or even points at the Hawthorns. Ed Note – what on earth had we all been on!

Until the seventy-seventh minute we were actually achieving that then, what looks like an initial mistake by an official (no, really!) gave a throw-in the wrong way and, by a round-about way, the hosts equalised. Two minutes later they were in front – a goal from outside the box. We really need to start trying to score goals like that – although, the stats do say that we had five shots from outside the box on Saturday.

We had thirteen shots at goal of which two were on target, West Brom has two on target from ten shots, which have to be the two goals – although I’m sure Marek Rodak saved a couple?

As I said earlier, a sort of Premier League team yet possession wise show that we, the Millers, had forty-eight per cent with Albion edging ahead with fifty-two per cent. We had more corners and won more in the air while our passing percentage in the opponents half was fifty-two with the Baggies just being a little higher.

As a footnote, not for the first time, the Millers only had six on the bench, as the last sub, Jerry Yates, was taken ill.
