Hirst Joins Millers

|

Rotherham United have brought in George Hirst on a season long loan from Leicester City to boost the forward line.

Millers Manager Paul Warne was interested in fetching the now twenty-one year old three years ago when he was with South Yorkshire neighbours Sheffield Wednesday but it wasn’t to be so he must be delighted to have finally got his man.

George came through the Academy at Hillsborough and signed his first professional contract with the club in 2016 playing extra time in an EFL Cup game and four months later coming off the bench for his first Championship game.

In 2018 he rejected a new deal and moved to Belgium to play for OH Leuven and spent one season there before moving back to England with Leicester City. From September 2019 to the following February he played for the Foxes U21 side making his Premier League debut in July away at Tottenham and the following week came off the bench at home to Manchester United.

This season George has played just one game which was with the U21 team in the Football League Trophy where he scored in their two-one away win at Hull.

All at Vital Rotherham welcome George to the New York Stadium.
