Following his performances over the month of February in League One, Rotherham United’s Semi Ajayi and Joe Newell find themselves shortlisted this time around.

February saw another enthralling month take place in Sky Bet League One as thing continued to tighten up at both ends of the table.

Down at the bottom, the likes of Fleetwood slipped closer to the trapdoor to League Two whilst Rochdale kept their survival hopes just about in tact thanks to the number of games that they have in hand.

Meanwhile, up at the top of the league, Blackburn Rovers stormed to the summit but were kept honest by Shrewsbury and Wigan – with the Latics again having games in hand.

Finally, the play-off race remained tight as Plymouth’s superb form continued as they moved into the top six, Bradford slipped out of those all important spots and Rotherham United enjoyed some scintillating form.

Time now, then, to take a look at the nominees for the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month Award for February…

Semi Ajayi
Rotherham United were on fire over the month of February as they soared into the top six and closed the gap to the automatic promotion spots. Ajayi was a key cog in the Millers’ wheel, too, as he contributed both defensively and offensively in February.

Joe Newell
Like Ajayi, Newell was pivotal in helping Rotherham United cement their place in the top six in League One. The midfielder scored two goals as he helped the Millers win against both Scunthorpe and Doncaster in 2-1 results.

Jason Demetriou
The defender has got a real knack of scoring goals at the moment and he took his tally to eight for the season with another three in February. Southend have seriously turned a corner under Chris Powell and it looks as though they’re going to be just fine this season now.

George Miller
Bury might have had a difficult year in League One but one silver lining surely has to be the emergence of George Miller. The young forward scored three during the month and will surely be playing more between now and the end of the campaign.

Adam Armstrong
Blackburn were flying in February as they took themselves to the top of the league. Their attacking threat was abundantly clear and Armstrong was central to that with four goals being scored in February.

Danny Graham
Graham wasn’t far behind Armstrong in the scoring stakes with him hitting three goals in February. With the two forwards bang in form as we approach the business end of the season, Rovers are surely going to prove very hard to stop.
