Rotherham United welcome Stoke City for their first visit to the New York Stadium.
The last time Stoke played on Rotherham soil was at Millmoor in August 2004. Going in goalless at half-time Paul Shaw put the Millers in front on fifty-six minutes but an Ade Akinbiyi goal five minutes from time sent the Potters home with a point.
A Tuesday night in September 2003 was the last time the Millers beat the Stoke at Millmoor. A poor challenge from Paul Williams in the box on Martin Butler on the stroke of half-time saw referee Carl Boyeson award the hosts a penalty which Darren Byfield duly put past Ed de Goey in Stoke’s goal in front of the kop. Six minutes into the second half Martin Butler got the ball into the box for Paul Warne who was beaten to it by two Stoke players but Butler had followed the ball and won it back shooting into the net for his first goal in a Rotherham shirt. With a minute left of the game Butler scored his second Millers goal to give the hosts a three-nil win after some good work from Byfield.

October 2002 saw Stoke at Millmoor in League One which saw Richie Barker open the scoring for the Millers on fifteen minutes. Alan Lee scored on thirty-nine minutes to send the Millers in two up at half-time. Barker got his second eight minutes into the second half with a late Chris Swailes goal making it four-nil to the Millers.
Stoke last won at Millmoor in April 1993, in Division Two, with Mark Stein scoring both goals. City finished the season in top place with ninety-three points, the Millers twenty-eight points behind in eleventh.
The first time the pair met at Millmoor was in the Old Division Two in November 1919 when Stoke won three-one.
