Rotherham United make their eighteenth trip to Elland Road to take on Leeds United in their next game.

The last game the two played at Elland Road saw a goal from Kyle Bartley and two from Chris Wood give Leeds a three-nil win in the first game of 2017.

The season before the pair met in Leeds in November when the only goal of the game was scored by Joe Newell on fifty-four minutes to give all three points to the Millers. With twenty minutes to go an altercation near the half-way line saw referee Keith Stroud show red cards to Leon Best, in his first game for the Millers and Gaetano Berardi of Leeds. Yellow cards were also shown to Newell, Joe Mattock, Kirk Broadfoot and Danny Ward of Rotherham and to Leeds’ Giuseppe Bellusci, Luke Murphy and Mirco Antenucci.

The season before this fixture was the final game of the season and ended nil-nil. The only booking of the day was to Sol Bamba.

Before that the last game at Elland Road between the two was the final game of the 2004/5 season. With the Millers already relegated they managed to frustrate Kevin Blackwell’s Leeds who saw Matthew Spring, Rob Hulse and Marlon King all hit the woodwork.

Two Millers connections played for Leeds that day in Ian Thomas-Moore and Frazer Richardson.

A Wednesday evening in August 1962 in the old Second Division was a game that saw seven goals. The Millers won four-three with two goals each from Alan Kirkman and Don Weston.

The first time the pair ever met in Leeds was in January 1908, a game which the hosts won one-nil.

The game at the New York Stadium earlier this season saw the visitors take a two-nil lead in at half-time with goals from Chris Wood and Souleymane Doukara with the Millers having Peter Odemwingie sent off for a poor challenge on Liam Cooper. Richard Wood pulled one back for the Millers in the final five minutes of the game but they couldn’t find an equaliser.
