Rotherham United are on the road making the journey to Ewood Park to take on Blackburn Rovers for their next game.

The Millers last journey to Blackburn was last season in League One on a Tuesday night in September. Marcus Antonsson opened the scoring for the hosts on twenty-seven minutes with Harrison Chapman making it two-nil five minutes from time.

The season before at Ewood Park the game saw six goals. Danny Ward slotted home on twelve minutes to put the Millers in front but before half-time Rovers were two-one up with goals from Craig Conway and Marvin Emnes. A minute into the second half Ben Marshall made it three-one for the hosts with Ward making things interesting on eighty-three minutes scoring his and the Millers second. But a Sam Gallagher goal in time added on made it four-two to Blackburn giving them all three points.

It was following this defeat that Millers Chairman Tony Stewart decided enough was enough and Alan Stubbs was shown the door.

A cold Friday night in December 2015 saw the pair meet the season before at Blackburn when a very good header from Millers loanee Luke Hyam was the only goal of the game – unfortunately he headed past his own ‘keeper to give Rovers all three points. Kirk Broadfoot was the only yellow card shown that night.

Before that the Millers last visit to Ewood Park was another cold Tuesday night this time in February 2015 when the hosts, again, got all three points. Craig Conway put Rovers ahead four minutes before half-time but a Matt Derbyshire goal on seventy-two minutes gave the Millers an equaliser. Four minutes before the end of the game Jordan Rhodes got the winner for Blackburn. This was the game in which a definite penalty for the Millers was ignored and the visiting Millers fans were counting out ten yards for referee Eltringham who obviously was incapable of doing that himself – although an apology was issued later from the Football League Chief for the poor decisions.

December 1982 saw the two meet at Ewood Park in Division Two. The game ended with a three-nil victory to Rovers with Blackburn finishing the season in mid-table while the Millers were relegated in twentieth place.

The last time Rotherham won on Birmingham soil was in September 1979 when both sides were in Division Three. Dave Gwyther scored two with another goal coming from Richard Finney giving the Millers a three-nil win.
