Head-to-Head v AFC Wimbledon

Rotherham United make the long trek to the Kingsmeadow Stadium to take on AFC Wimbledon for the first game of the new season.

The Millers have played at Wimbledon away three times in the past with two wins for Rotherham and one for the hosts.

The first time was on Good Friday in 2012 when Ben Pringle put the Millers in front on thirty-four minutes. A Luke Moore goal on sixty-five minutes brought the tie level but Sam Hoskins gave the visitors all three points seven minutes from time. Ryan Cresswell was the only player getting a yellow card that day.

The season after was a one-nil win for the Millers with substitute Kieran Agard scoring eleven minutes from time, running straight off the pitch into the stands, through the few Millers fans sat there and further up to celebrate with his family – getting a yellow card for his actions. Also booked was Andy Warrington, Ian Sharps and Daniel Nardiello for the visitors and Jim Fenlon and Will Antwi for Wimbledon.

The teams last met on Wimbledon soil in October 2017 at the Cherry Red Record Stadium in League One. Lyle Taylor scored a hat-trick for the hosts with Joe Newell getting a consolation for the visitors.
