Rotherham United welcome Millwall to the New York Stadium for the next league game of the season.

Millwall last visited the New York Stadium in August 2018 when the only goal of the game saw Sean Raggett climb highest from a Will Vaulks cross on twenty minutes to give the hosts all three points.

The first time the pair met at the New York Stadium was in February 2015 when the visitors went ahead with a twentieth minute goal from Martyn Woolford. With the Millers camped in their opponents half for much of the game second half goals from Danny Ward and Kari Arnason gave them all three points and saw unrest from the away fans as they chanted for Manager Ian Holloway’s head.

The time the pair met before that on Rotherham soil was at Millmoor in September 2006 when they were both in League One. Will Hoskins opened the scoring that day on the half-hour mark with Ian Sharps making it two-nil ten minutes later after heading in a Lee Williamson corner. Sharps turned from hero to villain in time added on when he fouled Danny Hayes in the area and the striker, on loan from Ipswich Town, picked himself up and put the spot kick past Neil Cutler in the Millers goal. The Millers held on until four minutes from time when Hayes got his and the Lions second and Alan Dunne got the visitors all three points on the full-time mark making it three-two to Millwall.

The Millers beat the Lions at Millmoor in December 2000. Dave Artell put the hosts in front four minutes into the second half but two goals from Steven Reid put Millwall two-one up just after the hour mark. But Alan Lee equalised on seventy minutes and three minutes from town got his second to give Rotherham a three-two win.

Although the sides had met in the League Cup at Millmoor (which was a five-two Millers win) the first time they met in the League in Rotherham was the first game of the 1966/7 season. The Millers won the game three-one with the goals coming from John Galley, who scored two, and Colin Clish.
