Rotherham United welcome Huddersfield Town to the New York Stadium for the first time, in the league, since February 2017 when despite twice going in front the Millers took nothing from the game. The Millers started the brighter and went ahead on eleven minutes from a Semi Ajayi goal only for Joe Lolley to equalise eight minutes later. Tom Adeyemi put the Millers back in front with twenty minutes to go but again the visitors equalised this time from the head of Elias Kachunga. And despite a good display from the hosts Tom Smith gave Town all three points in time added on.
The season before at the New York Stadium saw this fixture end in a one-all draw. Greg Halford scored for the hosts on ten minutes with Nahki Wells equalising twelve minutes later.
The Millers and Terriers met on Boxing Day 2014 which again saw them get a point a-piece. James Vaughan and Conor Coady put the visitors two up but the Millers scored twice in the last two minutes of the game with goals from Jonson Clarke-Harris and Lee Frecklington to make it two-all.
The last time the Millers beat Huddersfield on Rotherham soil was at Millmoor in October 1992. Both teams were in League Two with the only goal of the game coming from Shaun Goater.
The first time the pair met at Millmoor was on Christmas Eve 1919. The visitors won three-one with Rotherham County`s goal coming from Coe.
