Rotherham United welcome Burton Albion for their third visit to the New York Stadium – the last one being just after Christmas 2016 where former Miller Chris O’Grady put the hosts in front on thirty-six minutes and Jackson Irvine doubled the score four minutes later. Tom Adeyemi put the Millers back in the game on the stroke of half-time but there were no more goals in the second half sending Burton home with all three points.

The Brewers were the first visitors to the New York Stadium in competitive football in August 2012 when the Millers went two-up before the break thanks to a Daniel Nardiello spot-kick and a Kayode Odejayi header. Lee Bell saw two quick yellow’s for the visitors getting sent-off just after the hour mark with a Ben Pringle deflected cross going over ‘keeper Ross Atikins to give the Millers their first league win at their new ground.

The first time the teams ever met was at the Millers’ temporary home of Don Valley in December 2009. Adam Le Fondre put the Millers two up on thirty-nine and sixty-three minutes and Aaron Webster made it two-one on sixty-five minutes. Six minutes later Nick Fenton had a ‘brain-storm’ when he lunged at Webster on the half-way line and there were few complaints when Referee Hooper sent him for an early bath. The visitors took the one man advantage and five minutes from time Greg Pearson got the equaliser to give Burton a point.
