Rotherham United welcome back former manager Matt Taylor and his Bristol Rovers team for the Miller’s first home league game of the season.
This will be the fifty-ninth league meeting between the two, the last time out at the New York Stadium being in January 2020 when second half goals from Kyle Vassell, Michael Smith and Chieo Ogbene saw the Millers get all three points and keep them at the top of League One.
April 2018 was also a win for the hosts Michael Smith scoring on nine minutes and a late goal from Caolan Lavery giving Rotherham a two-nil win.
The first time the teams met at the New York Stadium was in January 2013 which Rovers won three-one, a game in which Claude Davis had a bit of a debut nightmare for the Millers. The tall defender bundled over Ryan Brunt in the area to give the visitors a forty-third minute penalty which Lee Brown duly scored. Claude then got a second yellow and was given an early bath before half-time. Ellis Harrison and Joe Anyinsah made it three-nil with substitute David Noble grabbing a consolation goal on seventy-three minutes.
A League Two game at the Millers temporary home of Don Valley was also a win for the visitors with Andy Dorman scoring on the stroke of half-time.
The last time that the sides met at Millmoor was in March 2001. Richie Barker scored the first goal of the game a minute before half-time with Jeff Minton, on his Millers debut, scoring twice in the second half to give the Millers a three-nil win.
