Rotherham United welcome Birmingham City to the New York Stadium for this Easter Monday afternoon game.

The Millers and Birmingham have met thirty-three times in the league in the past, City winning seventeen of those to Rotherham’s six, the last one being in October at St Andrew’s which saw a three-one win for the Blues when Lukas Jutkiewica got a hat-trick, Jon Taylor getting a consolation for Rotherham.

The last time the pair met at the New York Stadium was a one-all draw on Good Friday in 2017. Kerim Frei put the Blues in front but five minutes from time Danny Ward equalised for the hosts to make it one-all.

The season before the teams met on Rotherham soil was Neil Warnock’s first game in charge of the Millers which saw them end the game with nine men after Richard Wood was dismissed for fouling Clayton Donaldson and Joe Mattock saw red for time-wasting at a throw-in. The game ended goalless.

November 2014 at the New York Stadium saw a Clayton Donaldson goal on sixty-two minutes enough to give the visitors all three points which sent the Millers into the bottom three of the Championship. It was a poor performance from the boys in red with then Manager Steve Evans saying ‘some of the players will be disgusted with their performance today.’ Emmanuel Ledesma made his debut after coming on loan from Middlesbrough coming off the bench for the second half. Kari Arnason and Jonson Clarke-Harris saw yellow that afternoon for Rotherham with David Cotterill getting the same for the Blues.

The last time the Blues played at Millmoor was in April 2002. Darren Garner put the the hosts in front on thirty-six minutes but two minutes later Martin Grainger equalised. Fourteen minutes into the second half Martin McIntosh put the Millers back in front but with twenty minutes to go an own goal from Chris Beech gave City a point to take home. Mark Clattenburg was the referee that day and the only card of the day was a yellow to the visitors’ Damien Johnson.
