|

Rotherham United have won the race to fetch in Northern Ireland International Will Grigg from Sunderland on a season long loan.

The thirty year old striker began his career with non-league side Stratford Town before going on to play around one hundred times for Walsall. The summer of 2013 saw him move to Brentford and after a season with the Bees went out on loan to MK Dons where he scored twenty-two times in fifty games. Newly relegated League One side Wigan Athletic was the next stop for Will who paid a reported £1m for him. He made over one hundred and thirty appearances for the Latics moving on again in January 2019 this time to Sunderland helping them to the League One Play-Off Final at Wembley where they lost to Charlton. In February 2021 he found himself back with MK Dons on loan until the end of the season playing twenty games and scoring eight goals, four of them in one game. Back at the Stadium of Light, Will has made just one appearance for the Black Cats this season when he came off the bench in a Carabao Cup game.

Will has caps for Northern Ireland at U19 and U21 levels as well as thirteen full caps.

All at Vital Rotherham welcome Will to the New York Stadium.
